SCHEDULING
The schedule has been designed to ensure that the aircrafts are interchangeable at the home base if delays or cancellations are incurred. This means that the loss of an aircraft to maintenance or due weather grounding it in a good port other than home base will only result in minimal disruption and be absorbed more efficiently within the network. As Indonesia experiences significant changes in the weather with very small notice, the need to forward plan has driven us to expand our network significantly enabling us to employ a greater range of airports as alternates and hence reducing the cancellations as a result of weather.
Being a regional carrier our wider range of routes available allows us to continue operating through a greater range of environmental conditions. The turnaround times employed are amended around the different expected on route times, the city pairs operated and the time of day the flight is being operated. Traffic time during peak is hence accounted for and there is additional time allocated to once again absorb the disruption that may have resulted. Those airports with increased traffic are also provided with additional time during the expected peaks of the day. It is recognized that aircraft can make up time if delays are incurred, particularly on those routes that experience a greater duration, and this has been implemented in the schedule. The decision to minimize the overnighting requirements for crew, despite slightly impacting upon aircraft utilization, works to ensure duty hours remain compliant and provides additional time in the crew rosters to ensure that delays will not heavily influence the duty hours.
Kita air is a low-cost carrier, aiming to maximise the utilisation of the aircraft fleets so as to boost the total profit. Thus, it is significant to arrange the departure time as early as possible. The busiest departure time is between 5 am to 8 am for the schedule. Furthermore, most of the flights will return to the Jakarta base before 12 am, ensuring sufficient time for the aircraft maintenance. The decision to avoid overnight flights is for the crew cost saving purpose incurred by the hotel stay. The departure time from CGK to each destination is decided by several reasons, aiming for attracting both business passengers and leisure travelers. For those business routes (always large cities) such as Jakarta to Surabaya and Jakarta to Yogyakarta, early morning flights are scheduled to fulfil the demand of business travelers. Early morning flights are also arranged for the popular tourist routes, with travelers preferring morning departures to save budget.
The flight frequency for each destination is decided by its population, current passenger flow and the frequency served by other airlines. Hence there are some routes only operating two days a week. More flights are scheduled for those popular tourist destinations (e.g. Denpasar), or cities having large populations such as Surabaya and Medan. It is recognised that the schedule offers flexibility to travelers in choosing the flight time.

MAINTENANCE
Kita Air has scheduled 2 aircrafts each day overnight to have their A-Check maintenance carried out, both aircraft out of maintenance will are available for service the following morning.
Notable features of the maintenance schedule:
-
2 aircrafts available on the ground
-
Maintenance will happen every ten (10) days, will take 10 hrs for each aircrafts
-
2 aircrafts at a time overnight; takes 16 days to carry out maintenance on the entire fleet
-
Aircraft 33 flying overnight on flight KT6448 & KT6449 from UPG to MKQ does not return to Jakarta
-
Maintenance outsourcing (Joint venture) to parent Company Suarga Air as there would be peak periods of maintenance annually, therefore financially beneficial as oppose to in house maintenance.
-
All aircraft return to base except one aircraft
-
Aircraft duty alternation on different routes therefore all aircrafts share similar usage time.
