AIRCRAFT

The cost of fuel is an essential part to any business decisions made by Low Cost Carriers when it comes to aircraft choice (Yilmaz, 2017), therefore selecting the aircraft with the highest fuel efficiency with the highest possible ASK per sector was a priority in Kita’s strategy. This therefore led to the choice of the B737-Max.

The B737-Max is the most suitable aircraft for Kita’s fleet in terms of ASK, maintenance, range, capacity, and fuel burn which ultimately impacts pricing and revenue. The B737 Max allows Kita Air to price its fares aggressively. The B737 Max 8 allows Kita Air to price its fares aggressively.

Although Kita Air does not utilise the B737 Max 8's maximum range, Kita Air is able to use the refuelling cycles to its advantage by refuelling less frequently due to its range on maximum capacity tanks.

Our Network

Targeting Cost-sensitive businesses, and price sensitive travellers in the South East Asia Region. Increase in middle class citizens in Indonesia is reflecting on the demand of air travel inside and outside of Indonesia while the majority of the demographic are working class therefore affordable air travel vital to the growth of Indonesia’s economy.

Low Cost Carriers work well on sectors flying no more than 3 to 4 hours- Indonesia’s archipelagos range from 1 to 4 hours in transit time by air therefore making Kita’s LCC business model suitable for the region.

Basing all operations out of Jakarta, Kita aims to return all aircrafts  to it’s Jakarta hub at the end of all operations- this gives Kita Air a plan to recover from delays/cancellations at its hub with replacement aircrafts on standby, it also enables the airline to absorb any disruptions. This also brings majority of its cabin crew and pilots back to base therefore minimising staff travel/overnight expenses.

Kita Air’s Jakarta hub allows it to feed and receive international traffic via code sharing with it’s parent company ‘Suarga Air’ and other LCC international carriers (Jetstar, Scoot, etc). Kita Air’s primary strategy in connectivity which makes it appealing to travellers is its ability to connect all of Indonesia’s main archipelagos via every major city on every major island with competitive prices.
